The editorial policy and ethical principles

The editorial policy of the journal “Modern Oriental Studies” is related to the ethics of scientific activity and includes:

• encouraging authors, reviewers, readers, and members of the editorial board to openly express their opinions and ideas on preventing violations of ethical publication standards and improving the work of the journal;

• improving the work of the journal, improving the quality of published materials, monitoring the development of expert review and scientific publishing;

• review of manuscripts of a wide range of authors, regardless of their nationality, ethnic and racial affiliation, political and religious beliefs, based on the principles of tolerance;

• encouraging constructive criticism of the works published in the journal, granting the right to respond to criticism to the authors of the criticized works;

• willingness to publish corrections, clarifications, refutations, apologies, if necessary;

• timely informing readers about innovations in the magazine;

• developing a unique style of the journal in order to raise its scientific rating and respect among the authors;

• guarantee of objective consideration of complaints against the journal in accordance with the requirements of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), while maintaining the anonymity and confidentiality of the applicants;

• development of a system for monitoring cases of conflicts of interest;

• peer review of manuscripts by competent reviewers who are official members of the journal's review team;

• making objective decisions on the acceptance and rejections of articles based on the quality, relevance, significance, originality, clarity of presentation, as well as on the validity of conclusions and compliance with the subject of the journal;

• the use of transparent peer review (double-blind peer review), providing the authors with the reviewers' comments in full form and justifying any deviations from the stated practices;

• guarantee of anonymity of reviewing, providing reviewers with the opportunity to get acquainted with the comments of other reviewers when reviewing particular manuscript;

• support of authors whose copyrights are violated; cancellation of unfair publications, provision of apologies and refutations, removal of materials from the site;

• compliance with international research regulations;

• providing reviewers with requirements for the review process, confidentiality;

• providing reviewers with information about new research and publications in the field of peer review to maintain the high quality of peer review;

• monitoring the quality of reviewers' work to maintain high standards.

In its work, the Editorial Board (EB) of the journal is guided by the principles developed by the International Committee on Publication Ethics – COPE (https://publicationethics.org/resources/`code`-conduct), the Association of Scientific Editors and Publishers (HENRI/ASEP) (https://rasep.ru/sovet-po-etike/deklaratsiya), and also takes into account the experience of reputable international journals and publishers. The journal is an open `access` publication: all users can freely and free of charge read, download, `link` and copy the published materials according to the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) (http://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/).

Ethical principles

• The journal “Modern Oriental Studies” adheres to the standards of publication ethics and is guided by the principles of scientific research and objectivity:

• mutual responsibility for compliance with ethical standards: researchers, authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers have an ethical obligation to publish and disseminate the results of scientific research;

• compliance with the rules of communication with authors: interaction with authors should be fair, polite, and objective;

• objective peer review: the content of scientific publications of the journal is subject to mandatory peer review by independent experts;

• accessibility to publications: `access` to publications is guaranteed, and materials are stored in the country's leading libraries and repositories of scientific information;

• compliance with information transparency: The journal's website publishes regulations on editorial policy, publication ethics and peer review, instructions for authors on the rules for submitting manuscripts, and information on the availability of materials (free `access` or by subscription). Information about the provision or absence of `paid` services is also indicated. The ISSN and the publisher's address are specified;

• commitment to the ethical criteria of authorship: the author of the scientific publication is recognized as a researcher who participated in the preparation and writing of the work. The consent of all authors to the publication of the material is necessary;

• the obligation to agree on the final text of the article with the author: in view of the emergence of copyright, the publication of a text that is not agreed with the author, as well as the inclusion of third parties in the number of co-authors are considered violations of copyright;

• effective interaction with scientific associations: the editorial staff of the journal strives to cooperate with scientific associations in order to improve the quality of research papers;

• prevention and correction of ethical violations and conflicts of interest: refusal to publish works containing an unregulated number of borrowings.
