Dmitry E. Martynov

Dmitry Martynov – Professor of the Department of Altaic and Chinese Studies, Doctor of Historical Sciences (2014). Academic title – Associate Professor (2012). Member of the Russian Society of Intellectual History.

Currently, Mr. Martynov is a member of the following dissertation councils of the Kazan Federal University:
07.02. on defense in the field of historical sciences;
09.01 on defense in the field of philosophical sciences;
23.01 on defense in the field of political science.

Member of the editorial board of periodicals: “Archive of Russian Sinology” (Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow), “Scientific notes of Kazan University (Humanities)”.

Under the supervision of D. E. Martynov, two dissertations were prepared for the degree of Candidate of Historical Sciences and Doctor of Philosophy.

Mr. Martynov carries out scientific research supported by grants of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, mainly devoted to the history of Russian universities’ oriental studies.

Mr. Martynov is the author of more than 200 scientific articles (domestic and foreign), including ones written in foreign languages; author and co-author of about 10 scientific monographs. He is a well-known and recognized expert in the study of the intellectual history of China, the history of sinology, and the history of Russian universities’ oriental studies.

Mr. Martynov is a Russian Wikipedia community member since 2008, author of more than 400 Wikipedia articles, 13-time winner of the "Best Article of the Year in Russian Wikipedia" contest.

Education and academic degrees:
2002 – Kazan State University (historian, history teacher).
2004 – Postgraduate course of KSU (Candidate of Historical Sciences).
2012 - received the academic title of associate professor.
2013 – defense of the dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences.

Career:
2004-2009 – Assistant of the Department of Modern and Contemporary History.
2009-2011 – Senior lecturer of the Department of History and Culture of the East.
2011-2016 – Associate Professor of the Department of History and Culture of the East (then renamed to Department of Chinese Studies, History and Culture of the Far East, since 2015 – the Department of Altaic and Chinese Studies).
2013-2014 – Acting Head of the Department of Philology and Culture of the Far East.
From 2016 to the present – Professor of the Department of Altaic and Chinese Studies.

Awards:
2007 – third place in the competition "The best printed publication of Kazan State University".
2017 – Certificate of Honor in connection with the 10th anniversary of the Confucius Institute of KFU and the 180th anniversary of the opening of the Department of Chinese Literature at Kazan University.
2019 – Gratitude of the Rector of KFU for his great contribution to the development of Kazan Chinese studies.
