Intertextuality of the title as a text-forming category of a literary work and the problem of its translation

B>Abstract
The article examines the scope and correlation of the concepts of a literaty work and a literary text, as well as the grounds for singling out text categories and their possible status. Intertextuality is recognized as one of the most important text-forming categories of a literary work, which, on the one hand, ensures its thematic and ideological unity and brings together such components as the title and the main text of a literary work, and on the other hand, enriches the entire work with new meanings, giving the reader an opportunity to look at the entire book from a new angle. Based on the novels of Chinese writers Qian Zhongshu "The Besieged City" (钱钟书 "围城") and Liu Zhenyun "I am not Pan Jinlian" (刘震云 "我 不是 潘金莲"), the authours study how the intertextuality of the titles of these works causes the strengthening of the semantic potential of both individual fragments of the texts and the entire works in general. Through completeing actual translations of excerpts from the above novels, the authours study the most beneficial translation strategy for conveying the involved allusions.

Keywords: literary text, intertextuality, intertextual relation, allusion, metaphor.
