Separate-fused liheci words with component-motivated semantics in modern Chinese
Abstract. The paper deals with a description of semantic and syntagmatic features of separable words liheci with component-motivated semantics in modern Chinese. A corpus-based analysis of language material showed a wide range of different elements before the nominal component of separable word liheci (nouns, noun phrases, pronouns, adjectives, measure-words, etc.). Further, functional characteristics of each inserted element before the nominal component of liheci are discussed. As a result, it was shown that a number of inserted elements break the semantic unity of the verb-object liheci. The cases of insertion lexical items naming the participants with different semantic roles in the structure of liheci are also discussed.
