Perception peculiarities of North Korean threat by different Republic of Korea administrations in 2012-2020
Abstract. The article examines the perception of the North Korean threat by the conservative administration of Park Geun-hye and the progressive administration of Moon Jae-in in 2012-2020. The relevance of the study can be explained by the ability to trace the features of the behavior of the two administrations in relation to the North Korean threat, which will facilitate prognostic activity in the context of a new round of escalation of the North Korean nuclear missile program. The purpose of the study is to highlight the features of the perception of the North Korean threat by different administrations of the Republic of Korea (ROK).
The main research methods were: comparative analysis, which was used to determine changes in approaches to the perception of the DPRK threat and behavior of ROK at the domestic discourse during the change of administrations; and content analysis, which was used to analyze the text array of the ROK’s leaders’ speeches.
The result of the study is a number of conclusions regarding the common and unique features of the perception of the North Korean threat by different administrations.
