A brief discussion on the Russian translation of Chinese idioms and translation compensation strategies from the perspective of cultural default

Abstract
At the moment when the Belt and Road cooperation initiative is vigorously promoted, Chinese idioms, derived from historical allusions as representatives of traditional Chinese culture, have become an important tool used in cross-cultural communication with countries along the route. Chinese idioms have a unique refinement, depth, history and national character. They represent a unique language unit in Chinese and have a distinct difference from Russian idioms. Therefore, cultural default occurs when Russian translation is carried out in order to understand each other, so that difficulties arise in cross-cultural communication, and cultural translation compensation is needed to maximize the effect of cross-language cultural communication.
