Linguistic features of the scientific terminology of the Turkic languages in a comparative aspect

Abstract
Terminology is a special lexical layer used in a particular scientific field. Terms, as a rule, are unambiguous and serve to formulate, streamline and preserve scientific knowledge. Until the 19th century, the Türkic languages developed in a single cultural continuum, therefore, the terminology in each of the Türkic languages went through similar stages of development until the 19th century. With the formation of the Soviet Union in 1922 and the Turkish Republic in 1923, the development of the Turkic languages continued in different directions. The development of terminology also began to acquire distinctive features. This article examines the development of terminology in the Turkic languages from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day. The material for the research was the linguistic and physical and mathematical terminology of five Turkic languages (Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Tatar, Turkish, Uzbek). For the analysis of the linguistic features of terminology in the mentioned languages, four main ways of forming scientific terminology were identified. The results provide information on how often each of the methods of creating terminology is used, and examines the common and distinctive linguistic features of scientific terminology in five Turkic languages.
