Economic cooperation between Russia and China in the era of digitalization

Abstract. The current foreign policy situation, in particular the economic sanctions of Western countries and the coronavirus pandemic, have created favorable conditions for Russia and China to deepen economic cooperation. One of the most priority areas of such cooperation is cooperation in the field of the digital economy, where the PRC has achieved significant success in recent years. On the basis of already implemented economic projects related to the construction of infrastructure, joint investments in science and education, the creation of joint ventures, the two countries can continue to deepen cooperation in such priority areas as digital payments, the creation of infrastructure for 5G networks, the development of modern software, artificial intelligence and cloud technologies. The basis for expanding cooperation in the field of digital economy for the Russian side can be the national project "Digital Economy", in the implementation of which Russia can rely on the experience of the People's Republic of China, which has created good conditions for its technology companies for a technological breakthrough. The most promising areas for the development of Russian-Chinese cooperation are the development of electronic payment systems, the creation of free digital trade zones at both the national and cross-border levels, the creation of joint technology parks, and the development of cosmonautics. An important condition for the implementation of projects in the field of digital economy is joint efforts to improve the legislative norms regulating the digital economy, as well as the training of highly qualified personnel.
